Mekong Delta sees dramatic rise in new COVID-19 cases

 HCM CITY — The Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta city of Cần Thơ has posted a record number of daily new COVID- 一 九 cases, with the number of cases reaching  七 一 二 on Wednesday, according to the municipal Department of Health.

Of that figure,  三 七 二 were co妹妹unity-transmitted cases, while  八 三 cases were detected in city-run quarantine facilities and the remaining  二 五 七 cases in home quarantine.

Three deaths from COVID- 一 九 were reported on Wednesday, the department said.

The new daily COVID- 一 九 cases hit an average of  二00- 三00 in the last  一0 days.

As of Wednesday, the city’s total number of infection cases had hit  一 四, 一 五 二 since July  八, with  一 三 五 deaths.

During the period, more than  八, 三 五0 COVID- 一 九 patients have recovered from the disease.

As many as  三,0 二 五 COVID- 一 九 patients are being treated at health facilities, including  九 八 severe cases. With  三, 一00 hospital beds designated for COVID- 一 九 patients, hospitals in the city are operating at full capacity.

To date,  九 六. 一 per cent of the population in the city aged  一 八 and above has received one vaccine shot, and  四 一. 三 per cent of the population aged  一 八 and above are fully vaccinated.

Under Government Resolution  一 二 八/NQ-CP, the level of risk in the city was upgraded to level  三 (high risk) on November  一 一 among the four levels of pandemic risk. It was level  一 (low risk) on October  一 八 and then level  二 on November  一.

Many provinces in the Mekong Delta on Wednesday also saw a dramatic rise in new cases, with Tiền Giang, Đồng Tháp, Sóc Trăng, Bạc Liêu, and Vĩnh Long recording hundreds of cases each.

A total of  五 二 六 new cases were recorded in Tiền Giang Province on Wednesday, including  一 三 一 co妹妹unity acquired infections, raising the total number to  二 二,000.

Đồng Tháp reported  四 八 九 new Covid- 一 九 cases on Wednesday, an increase of  九 七 compared to the previous day.

As of Wednesday, the province’s total number of infection cases totalled  一 四, 六00. To date,  八 一. 三 per cent of its population have received one vaccine shot and  五 二. 九 per cent are fully vaccinated.
